In response to the temporary closure of elementary, middle, and high schools in Japan due to the spread of COVID-19, local governments and schools offered students and teachers free access to the Study Sapuri
(only in Japanese) online learning service and the Study Sapuri for Teachers tool from March 3 to April 30, 2020. Over 92,000 students from 205 elementary and middle schools and 115 high schools used the Study Sapuri platform while they were away from their classrooms. Students can learn various skills and lessons through Study Sapuri's online videos and tests. The platform also allows teachers to assess each student's physical condition through an "activity memo" function where students enter their daily activities such as cooking, exercising, etc. (Figure). In order to support Japan's evolving educational infrastructure, we will continue to strengthen Study Sapuri's platform and expand our servers to accommodate more students and teachers.

"Study Sapuri's video clips, drills, and learning management functions can be used by schools to help children stay motivated and focused while studying at home," said Satoru Takeuchi, head of education at Izumiotsu City. "By creating curricula that focus on interactive activities, teachers are able to dive deeply into a topic during a limited amount of time."
In Jakarta, Indonesia, schools are using Quipper, a certified government-endorsed service that provides on-demand educational videos, to teach students remotely while facilities are closed. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Quipper offered free exam preparation packs for high school and college entrance exams to further support remote learning.
